Traditional handcrafted 3? sea grass baskets by Native artist Anna Beavers of Goodnews Bay, Alaska. Basketry is an important form of artistic expression for Native women of the Arctic. It also provides a source of income. Basketry in Western Alaska (the Yupik Eskimo region) is made of grass and is usually coiled. A variety of traditional designs introduced by a particular craftswoman are used throughout the region.
